
Nicole Murdock (Cree-Anishinaabe) is a First Nations graduate student, instructor, writer, and mother based on Treaty 1 Territory in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
An urban member of Fisher River Cree Nation, she studies Criminal Justice and Indigenous Studies at the University of Winnipeg. Her work lives at the intersections of community, classroom, and public life.

Nicole studies how stories move systems. Her work examines Indigenous (in)justice, sovereignty and political institutions in Manitoba, Indigenous peoples and policing, and narrative research methods.
She carries what she learns into her own classrooms and back into community, treating research, teaching, and service as one connected practice.

As a proud urban member of Fisher River Cree Nation, Nicole teaches in the community’s Transition to University Program, supporting students as they prepare for post-secondary life in larger urban environments.
In Spring 2025 she taught Academic Writing and Introduction to Urban City Studies, centering relational pedagogy and experiential learning.Across her studies, Nicole has contributed in interdisciplinary teaching assistantships and facilitation roles within Criminal Justice and Indigenous Studies at the University of Winnipeg. Through guest lectures, co-teaching, and instruction, she continues to expand her practice - prioritizing dialogue, care, and critical engagement in the classroom.
